Aluminum can business of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation

1918
Mitsubishi Mining Company Ltd.(now Mitsubishi Materials Corporation) established.
1950
Coal and Metal divisions separated under legislation to remove excess concentrations in industries [coal operations to form Mitsubishi Mining Company Ltd.; metal operations Taihei Mining (Mitsubishi Metal Mining Company since the following year)].
1972
Fujioyama Plant was established to enter the aluminum beverage can business (2-piece can body and end).
1974
Gifu Plant was established (2-piece can body).
1976
Okayama Plant was established (2-piece can body).
1977
Aluminum Can Development Center was established.
1990
Yuki Plant was established (2-piece can body).
1990
Mitsubishi Metal Corporation and Mitsubishi Mining & Cement Co., Ltd. merged to form Mitsubishi Materials Corporation.
1992
A new production line for can ends was established at Fujioyama Plant.
2001
UBC (Used Beverage Cans) recycling plant, first of its kind, was established in Japan.
2001
Began production of aluminum bottles at Okayama Plant.
2003
A production line for aluminum bottle was established at Yuki Plant.
2005
Began production of caps at Fujioyama Plant.

Aluminum can business of Hokkan Holding Limited

1921
Hokkai Can Manufacturing & Warehousing Co., Ltd. established.
1950
Hokkai Can Co., Ltd. established through corporation restructuring plan.
1979
Tatebayashi Plant was established to enter the aluminum beverage can business.
1991
SI Plant was established to manufacture aluminum can ends.
1993
Shiga Plant completed (2-piece aluminum cans).
2005
Change to holding company structure.

Universal Can Corporation

2005
Universal Can Corporation was established by integrating aluminum beverage can business of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and that of Hokkan Holdings Limited.
2007
Consolidate Tatebayashi Plant and SI Plant, and the name change to Gumma plant(Body and End).
2009
Transferred manufacturing line for can ends of Gumma Plant to Hokkai Can Co,. Ltd.
2010
Moved head office.

ALTEMIRA Can Co.,Ltd.

2022
The company name changed to ALTEMIRA Can Co.,Ltd.
